Compost Nashville provides compost collection services to the residents and businesses of the greater Nashville area. We are seeking hardworking and reliable drivers to collect compostable materials from our customers. We offer competitive pay with quarterly raises within the first year. Driving experience is required. A CDL license is not required, but Class D F Endorsement must be obtained within 30 days of employment. The F Endorsement test is 35 multiple-choice questions, and the company will reimburse your test fee.
Job Description:
As a route driver, you will navigate a company-owned vehicle (a sprinter van or 24ft stake-bed truck) on a predefined route to collect compostable materials from our customers. At each stop, you will replace the customer's compost bin with a clean empty bin, weigh the material, and log this data in our software. At the end of the day, you are responsible for helping to unload your vehicle and prepare it for the next work day. We do our best to keep your schedule between 8 am-5 pm, but occasionally traffic and weather conditions can have you on the road a little later.
You'll be responsible for the following:
- Managing/driving your route safely and efficiently (using our custom software on a company iPad)
- Collecting and weighing customer compost and replacing their bin(s) with clean empty bin(s)
- Communicating effectively to give our customers the great service they've come to love and know
Applicants Must
- Be 21 years or older
- Have a clean driving record
- Pass a background check (no felony/misdemeanor)
- Have an F Endorsement on their driver's license (or obtain it within 30 days of employment)
- Be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Be able to climb stairs
- Be punctual for scheduled shifts
- Be comfortable working alone
- Be committed to detail and safety
- Be willing to work in allweather conditions
- Have a smartphone with internet access (an iPad will be provided for routes, but you will need your cell phone to access internal company apps - i.e. to clock in, view schedule, etc)

COVID-19 considerations:
We disinfect all vehicles at the start and end of each day. All vehicles are supplied with hand sanitizer and disinfectant solutions. The majority of the day is spent working alone. Social distancing is practiced.

About Compost Nashville:
Our mission is to grow food not landfills. Compost Nashville provides compost collection services to the residents and businesses of the greater Nashville area. We divert 30,000 pounds of food waste from the landfill in an average week. This helps relieve local landfills and reduce methane emissions into the atmosphere. The collected materials are converted into nutrient rich compost soil, which our customers receive twice a year.
