Who is Compost Nashville?

Compost Nashville is Jeremy Lekich, Micah Puncochar and Matthew Beadlecomb. We’ve come together with two simple goals in mind: to divert as much food waste as possible from landfills and to transform that food waste into rich fertile soil

Hey there everyone! My name is Beadle and I am the operations manager here at Compost Nashville. The past couple of years of my life have been spent trying to figure out the best way for me to coexist with this fast paced world we all currently share. I have known for a while now that I wanted to find a way to be more in touch with the world and to get back to the important parts of life. For me the most important things are food, friends and music. Well, Tennessee is a rich place to grow all of these things and the better the quality of the ingredients you begin with, the better the results. This has inspired me to start learning about composting and how we can all be part of creating fertile soil with which we can grow delicious food!

I grew up in Nashville and went on to study International Business and Spanish at Tennessee Tech. It wasn’t until I served in the Peace Corps in Paraguay that I was exposed to good composting practices and its direct correlation to better crop production. Since returning home to Nashville, I’ve wanted to put into practice some of those lessons. I’m excited to be part of a company that diverts food scraps from the waste stream and turns it into great compost.

I was born and raised in Nashville, TN. I received my bachelors of science from Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, NC (near Asheville) and majored in biology (minor=chemistry). I focused on plants and systems design. The more I learned about plants, the more I realized that soil is the foundation of plant health. The more I learned about soil, the more I understood that soil is the foundation of all health. As a soil professor said to a class once, “What does NOT come from soil?” I feel excited and inspired to be part of a company and community that helps to improve the soil around the city that I love, by creating high quality compost!
